The Center for Development of the East Planning Region continues with the realization of activities supported by the Program for Conservation of Nature in Macedonia within the nomination of Geopark Lesnovo in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.

On January 23, 2019, in the premises of the Rectorate of the University "Goce Delchev" from Stip, an agreement was signed for research and preparation of the application for Lesnovo membership for the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.

The Goce Delcev University in its expert team includes experts from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje and MANU all for the purpose of preparing the best quality application and during October-November 2019 the application will be submitted to the Council for the official communication channel geo-parks of UNESCO.

Within the framework of this program activity, in cooperation with the municipality of Probistip and the municipality of Kratovo, infrastructure projects are envisaged, which together with the rich geological heritage and cultural traditions in the region will contribute to the proclamation of Lesnovo as the first geopark in the Republic of Macedonia.
