The program for the conservation of nature in Macedonia is a project funded by the Government of the Swiss Confederation. As one of the activities for this project is the preparation of the Draft Spatial Plan of the East Planning Region. And East planning Region will be the first region in the country with its Spatial Plan.

Spatial Plan of the Eastern Region is an elaboration of the Spatial Plan of the Republic of Macedonia with these aims:

• Establishing the concept of spatial development through the application of the principle of sustainable use and management of space;
• Establishing a balance between spatial conditions, demographic and socio-economic development;
• Coordination between primary, secondary, tertiary and public activities;
• Resolve conflicts that result from the use of natural resources with a view to their rational use;
• Correspondence opportunities and commitments for future spatial development;
• 
  Organization, regulation and management of space with time horizon to 2030.

On January 17, 2014 in big hall municipality of Stip, a working meeting held between the Agency for Spatial Planning as a maker of the Plan, participatory bodies from eleven (11 ) municipalities of the East Planning Region as users of plan, beneficiaries and representatives from the Centre for Development of East planning region , Pharmachem and Ministry of Environment and Physical planning as project partners.

The aim of the project was partners to learn about the importance of the Spatial Plan, mode of cooperation, which documents should be produced in order to develop the plan , the dynamics of preparation and timeframe.
